TVET IMPACT ON THE ECONOMY Forty years ago, HEART was welcomed as one of the most consequential Government initiatives ever undertaken to improve the life chances of Jamaica’s youth, while reenergizing Jamaican industries and enterprises of all sizes. Since then, HEART has positively impacted this segment of the population between the ages of 15 and 29, which constitutes more than half of the population (nearly 1.5 million people). The Agency’s training programmes primarily served the targeted growth sectors of Agriculture, Hospitality/ Tou r i sm, Bu i l d i ng /Con s t r u c t i on , Apparel/Sewn Products, Arts and Crafts, Commercial and Beauty Services.
