HEART/NSTA 40th ANNIVERSARY CHURCH SERVICE ‘Forty-fied’ for Nation Building A wide cross section of members of the HEART/NSTA Trust, stakeholders and well wishers gathered in worship at theOchoRios Baptist ChurchonSunday, October 30 in commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of the Organisation. HEART was launched on November 4, 1982 as a key economic and social development driver and a gamechanger for the Jamaican workforce. In 2019, the HEART National Service TrainingAgencyTrust (HEART/NSTA) was created out of the merger of the HEART Trust/NTA with the National Youth Service (NYS), the Jamaican Foundation for Lifelong Learning, and the Apprenticeship Board. The NYS was established in 1973, to equip youth with the necessary life coping skills to foster their personal and career development; while the JFLL (formerly JAMAL) was created on November 5, 1974, was mandated to improve the literacy skills of the adult population of Jamaica. In commemorating its 40-year journey, the HEART/NSTA Trust has been staging a series of events and activities to celebrate its proud history and legacy. A key highlight of the celebrations will be the affirmation of the Organisation’s employees, programme participants, and the recognitionof the contribution of employers, partners and other stakeholders. HEART’s fortieth anniversary celebrations, being held under the theme: “Forty-fied for Nation Building”, seeks to re-ignite the passion and commitment of all stakeholders towards the fulfilment of the Trust’s mandate by: • Paying homage to key contributors and stakeholders over the years. • Building brand awareness of the products and services offered by the renewed HEART. • Building employee morale and sense of identity, and community. • Recognising the value contributions of employers and partners while reaffirming the Agency’s commitment to fiscal prudence and accountability.
