NAME OF FEATURE | THE GLEANER | MONDAY, MARCH 8, 2021 8 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY Evan Dixon/Features Writer T HIS PAST general election was representative of a small shifting of the tide as a re- cord number of women now hold seats in George William Gordon House, the epicentre of political happenings in Jamaica. The 18 women, 14 from the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and four from the People’s National Party (PNP), have resting on their shoulders the responsibility of ensuring that the concerns and issues having to do with women are heard loud and clear when they stand from their seats to speak in Gordon House. Natalie Neita, Lisa Hanna, Denise Daley, and Angela Brown Burke re- turned to the House. Returning rep- resentatives also included veterans such as Olivia Grange and Marisa Dalrymple Philibert, FayvalWilliams, Juliet Holness, Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn, Marlene Malahoo Forte, and Ann- Marie Vaz.
