NAME OF FEATURE | THE GLEANER | SUNDAY, JUNE 6, 2021 3 JAMAICA MORTGAGE BANK 50TH ANNIVERSARY THE JAMAICA Mortgage Bank (JMB) was established in 1971 with a vi- sion“to finance safe and affordable housing so that all Jamaicans will have access to homeownership”. This vision is critical to national development, and the JMB has remained committed to its attain- ment, having financed over 100 residential and commercial pro- jects. This has stimulated the ex- pansion of the construction sector, contributing to economic growth, employment and the provision of much-needed housing solutions across the country. The bank offers several services and products, including project management for the diaspora, mortgage indemnity insurance, primary mortgage financing, sec- ondary mortgage financing and technical support services. It, there- fore, remains an important develop- ment institution in the construction industry. It is my pleasure to join the Jamaica Mortgage Bank in celebrat- ing this milestone achievement of 50 years of operation. I am passionate about finding ways in which each citizen, espe- cially the vulnerable and margin- alised, can be provided access to affordable and decent housing, and wish the JMB continued success in pursuing its vital mission.
