NAME OF FEATURE | THE GLEANER | WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2020 4 MONTEGO BAY HIGH SCHOOL 85TH ANNIVERSARY T HIS NOBLE institution has achieved another major mile- stone in a year when theworld was impacted by a global pandemic which all but left us paralysed. Our 85th anniversary celebrations have beenaltereddrasticallybutwe remain undaunted. Though great plans of coming together were abandoned, our past students from across the globehave found creativeways of ex- pressing gratitude for this institution whichhas impactedour lives greatly. Upon reflection, we give thanks for our founding fathers, who saw the importance of developing a school for girls, and the Government which responded positively. The invaluable support of our past students, par- ents, businesses and friends of the school is most encouraging. We owe a debt of gratitude to our teachers, administrative and ancillary staff, led by our principal, Gairy Powell, who rank among the best as they execute beyond the call of duty. Montego Bay High School con- tinues to maintain a record of un- paralleled academic excellence and boasts a strongprogramme of extra- curricular activities, offering a perfect balance. Our graduates continue to accomplishmighty feats andwehave every reason to be proud of them. While our 2020 vision was completed as we wished, many improvements have been ex- ecuted, top of the list being the restart of our sixth form, introduction of additional sub- jects to the delight of our girls. Our physical plant remains top of mind as we continue to work on a 21st-century school complex and help is always welcome. On behalf of the board of man- agement, we invite everyone to join us in this cause as we celebrate this noble institution which has given so much to us. MYRTLE DWYER Board Chairman Our graduates continue to accomplish mighty feats and we have every reason to be proud of them.
