Manchester Co-operative Credit Union
NAME OF FEATURE | THE GLEANER | SUNDAY, JUNE 20, 2021 10 MCCU 70TH ANNIVERSARY I T WAS in 2000, one year after assuming duties as a registered nurse at the Mandeville Regional Hospital, that I was encouraged by my matron, the late Matron Grossett – may her soul rest in peace – to open an account at the Manchester Co-operative Credit Union. After the initial opening of the ac- count, I was then encouraged by a friend to apply for a small loan. I was hesitant at first, as I was not in need of a loan at the time. But my friend suggested I take the loan of about $20,000, put it aside, and pay it back in small increments over a two- to three-monthperiod. She encouraged me to look at the bigger picture and seize theopportunity to create agood ratingwith the credit union. I got the loan and paid it back in quick time. Some time later, it so happened thatmynowhusband, DamaniTurner, bought a car and the enginegot dam- aged. We did not have the money to buy a new engine. So, where did I go?You guessed it, Manchester Co- operative Credit Union. I was on the night shift at the hospital, so after leaving work the morning, I waited until the credit union opened. There, I met Mrs Kennedy, who was welcoming and very profes- sional; so much so that we became good friends. After going through the process, I got my loan and the following day I was able to travel to Montego Bay to buy an engine. From the loan for the engine, to debt consolidation loans, personal loans, educational loans for my chil- dren, my husband and myself, you name it, I got it from the Manchester Co-operative Credit Union. I even established some great relation- ships in the process, as all the loan officers I have dealt with over the years are now good friends of mine. The services they provide are one of a kind. You can see excellence as soon as you enter the front door; and they all go to great lengths to help in whatever way they can. My current loans officer, Mr Richard Barrett, is exceptional at what he does. He has been there for me History of conducting business with the MCCU TESTIMONIAL PLEASE SEE BUSINESS , 13
