Manchester Co-operative Credit Union
NAME OF FEATURE | THE GLEANER | SUNDAY, JUNE 20, 2021 3 MCCU 70TH ANNIVERSARY MESSAGE T HE REGISTRAR and staff of the Department of Co-operative and Friendly Societies con- gratulate the members, volun- teers, management and staff of the Manchester Co-operative Credit Union (1977) Limited on this sig- nificant milestone. Seventy years as a thriving corporate body, pro- viding invaluable services to mem- bers, their relatives and the wider community is, indeed, remarkable and should be recognised for the continued commitment to excellent member service. The Manchester Co-operative Credit Union (1977) Limited, since its inception in 1947, continues to be the financial institution of choice, in meeting the needs of members through the provision of a wide range of products and services, to include, but not lim- ited to, the facilitation of several scholarships and bursaries, as well as the social and community out- reach activities under its corporate social responsibility programme, despite the challenges and dy- namics of the financial landscape being experienced at this time. The financial performance of the credit union continues to show positive growth, evidenced by membership of more than 48,000; youth savers, over 6,500; total sav- ings of $5.2 billion; total assets of $7.1 billion; and a loan portfolio of over $3.4 billion as at May 31, 2021. This growth is accomplished in spite of non-performing loans and competition because of the dedicated volunteers, manage- ment and staff, who constantly seek to introduce innovative ways of inspiring the lives of the mem- bers who utilise the services of- fered by the credit union. I encourage the members, vol- unteers, management and staff to continue to make ‘members’ satisfaction’ your focus, to be motivated by this milestone, and continue to maintain excellent standards as you strive on the path of success. In protecting the interests of members and stake- holders, the department, as the regulatory body, will continue to provide increased technical guid- ance, thus ensuring the sustaina- bility of the highest standard of performance by the Manchester Co-operative Credit Union (1977) Limited. We applaud you, Manchester Co-operative Credit Union (1977) Limited, in celebration of your 70th anniversary, and wish for you continual success.
