Undoubtedly, the success of this fi- nancial institutionmust be attributed to the sound policies and manage- ment practices governing its oper- ations and membership, along with the effort and commitment of those whoworked to enable the institution tobecome successful andwell recog- nised as a place for financial products and services.Wemust also recognise that without the many proud mem- bers, the credit union would not be able to celebrate this greatmilestone. It is, therefore, with delight that I extend my congratulations to its leadership, staff and members. The institutionmust also be recog- nised and congratulated for the com- petitive edge it holds in its products and services, which helps to position theManchester Co-operative Credit Union (1977) Limited as a financial institution of choice. Your celebration theme, ‘Building Communities … Fostering Growth’, is indeed appropriate. It makes your position known in the development andgrowthofourpeopleandcommu- nities, and theeconomyof theparish. I commend you for your generous support towards themany charitable organisations, the positive impact you have made in the lives of many, and the financial assistance rendered to students through grants or schol- arships. Many can attest to the fact that their lives have beenmade bet- ter through your innovativemeans of working towards meeting the needs of thosewho look to you for support. Your existence as a financial insti- tution has now spanned 70 years. I know there has been many chal- lenges, but you have rallied through and are now standing tall and strong.
