Seventy years of service to the members of the credit union and the people of the parish of Manchester is an awesome achievement. It is obvious that your members are satisfied with the service that the credit union is providing, otherwise they certainlywould not have contin- ued to support it over these 70 years. I especially congratulateyour cadre of volunteers over the 70 years, for serving the community through the credit union, and I urge the present volunteers tocontinue thisnoble trend to improve the lives of your people, through the cooperative principles. This is indeed a labour of love – vol- unteerism has its rewards. I wish you and thecredit union family continued success in the future andManchester Credit Union has a great one. I ask that you do not become dauntedby the changes but instead embrace themas your credit unionmoves towards enhancing ser- vice delivery to all members. At the same time, I encourage you to con- tinue to save with, and borrow from, your credit union. As leaders of the movement, we intend to keep the principles and philosophies safe so that members can continue to benefit from being co-operators. LAMBERT JOHNSON President, Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League An awesome achievement T HE MANCHESTER Co- operative Credit Union (1977) Limited was established out of the credit union mantra of peo- ple helping people. Our founding fathers envisioned that the mem- bers’ lives would be improved by the pooling of resources to help them better their lives through the attainment of key financial goals. We are proud that we have achieved and, in many respects, exceeded our founders’ vision. From humble beginnings, we have grown tomore than 48,000 members and over $7 billion of assets under management. As we mark our 70th anniversary, we celebrate and pay tribute to the generations of members who have supported their credit union over the past seven decades. We would not be the award-winning credit union we are today without them – especially those who have served as staff or volunteers. Thank you!We also thank our many collab- orators, including, but not limited to, the Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League and its subsidiaries, the Department of Co-operatives and Friendly Societies, other co-op- eratives, and our many business Inspired and hopeful for a bright future PLEASE SEE FUTURE , 7
