S

T JAGO Cathedral

Preparatory School is a

private Anglican institu-

tion founded in 1957 under

the auspices of the lord

bishop of Jamaica, the princi-

pal of St Jago High, the princi-

pal of the Jamaica School of

Agriculture, and the manager

of Inswood Estate. The school

was then named the St Jago

Prep School.

In November 1959, the

Cathedral Church of St Jago

de la Vega assumed full man-

agement of the school. Thus

the name ‘Cathedral’ was

included.

St Jago Cathedral Preparatory

School has a rich tradition of

providing quality education to

children in the Spanish Town

community, with students

receiving several

government scholarships over

the years. Our school is well

known for its advocacy in the

care and protection of our

environment, and has been

consistent in winning the Urban

Development Corporation’s

environment competitions. Our

school also won the Lasco 2014

Environment Competition and

Bottle Drive, and was the recipi-

ent of 10 new computers to

add to the school’s comple-

ment. Over the years, the

school’s Environment Club

members have assisted with

the cleaning up of several

beaches, giving talks to children

in nearby schools, and sensitis-

ing persons in the community

about the value of keeping our

environment clean.
