Sunday July 4, 2021 Page 15 SCENES BEHIND THE Monique Whitfield Producer I have been working at Radio Jamaica 94FM for the past five years and six months The most memorable thing that has happened to me whilst working at Radio Jamaica is being part of a team which planned and executed an all island tour for Alan Magnus, ‘The Flying Machine Tour’ to commemorate his time spent at Radio Jamaica. It was fun and exciting but also nerve wracking as I transitioned to another phase in my career where I started producing Francois St Juste, the man who hired me and gave me an opportunity to achieve my childhood dream. All of this helped to build character and moulded me into the person I am today. Nicole Thomas Producer I have been working with Radio Jamaica since December 2015. My most memorable moment? Like a needle in a haystack, finding my most memorable moment since I began at Radio Jamaica in December 2015, was not an easy task. Trying to remember however, has opened a floodgate of happy memories. From meeting and working with Francois St. Juste and Danae Ramgolam who were, as a child growing up, my reason for radio, to meeting Dorraine Samuels, a person I admired and took my cues on diction from before even thinking of working in media. From recording my first promo (which I’m sure took me 50 hours to get right), to meeting some amazing people and exploring some amazing parts of Jamaica on a countless number of Outside Broadcasts. From tears of sadness to tears of joy and everything in between, my journey from start to present has been memorable. I have become a daughter to a few amazing broadcast technicians and awesome radio announcers. I have also become a daughter to a few superstar marketing representatives. I have moved from the girl who sat beside her waiting to be interviewed to the friend and sister of Monique Whitfield, a beautiful soul with a great personality. How could I have chosen just one memorable moment when each day, each experience, each interaction was memorable in and of itself? I couldn’t, and I’m grateful for that!
