Radio Jamaica Celebrating 70 Years

Sunday July 4, 2021 Page 29 I f you are a news hound, you know where your ears will be every weekday at 5:00 p.m. They will be tuned to Radio Jamaica to hear Dionne Jackson-Miller tackle the news of the day with incisive interviews, analysis, and no-holds- barred commentary. She has become the voice and face of investigative reporting in Jamaica. She has the distinction of hosting not one, but two not to be missed news programmes: the daily Beyond the Headlines , on Radio Jamaica, and the weekly All Angles on TVJ. The multiple-award-winning journalist goes beyond the front page headlines to provide in-depth coverage of crucial national issues and to ask the hard questions that Jamaicans want answered. Her goal is to unearth the truth, no matter what that truth may be. Her analysis is always fair and balanced, and her stories resonate with Jamaicans everywhere. No topic is out of bounds, and no person is untouchable. In person, Jackson-Miller is small in stature but large in the confidence and control she exudes. Interestingly, she does not have an overbearing ego. “I am one of a very few highly positioned journalists in Jamaica with no degree in media or communications, “ she said. After stints with NEPA (the National Environment and Planning Agency), and at Communications Consultants Limited, Dionne moved to Montego Bay, and in 1992, was targeted by RJR 94FM’s Western Bureau and joined the staff there. She swiftly ascended to bureau head, and some time later, debuted on air with Exposure . Dionne Jackson-Miller Tackling the Hard Topics continues on page 30
