e Man Who Changed Radio ALAN MAGNUS Page 44 Sunday July 4, 2021 I n 1971 Alan Magnus was invited to take up the job as the host of the Good Morning Man Show, he asked his schoolmate, Desmond Chambers, who had previously hosted the show, how he should approach it. Neville Willoughby had taken over the hugly popular show, and Magnus was wary of following in the footsteps of those two radio giants. Chambers’ advice was simple. “Ignore anything anybody did before, and just do what you feel comfortable doing. Make the programme a reflection of yourself.” And that’s exactly what Alan Magnus did for the next 46 years. continues on page 45
