Radio Jamaica Celebrating 70 Years

The RJRGLEANER Communications Group is very happy to be able to assist the Citizens Advice Bureau Basic School, which is a much-needed facility in the Lyndhurst Road community. Noted as the best basic school in the Zone 6 area, even with the COVID-19 pandemic, the school has continued to operate, applying the new norm for teaching and learning to assist the 240 students between the ages of three and six years. They are the 2019-2020 champions in the arena of basic school sports. The Early Childhood Commission, under whose jurisdiction the school falls, has commended the school on its operations over time, and the Group looks forward to assisting in the development of whatever strategies are being considered for the reopening of the school to keep children and staff safe. Over the years, the RJRGLEANER Group has worked on behalf of many charitable initiatives. The company has offered continuous support to the Cancer Society, Heart Foundation, Jamaica Legions Poppy Appeal, National Road Safety, the PALS initiative, and the 4H Clubs of Jamaica. It also supports fundraising efforts of many corporate entities through charity runs. Among these are the CB/ UWI 5K ; the Digicel 5K ; the Food For the Poor 5K ; The City of Kingston Run (put on by the J.H.T.A.) ; t he Grace Education Run ; and the Sigma Run/Walk. RJR also offers significant support to the Shaggy Make AWish Foundation and its efforts to benefit the Bustamante Children’s Hospital. In addition, RJRGLEANER Group supports special-need cases. Prominent among these has been its supports of the “Change a Life” initiative, which provided funding for surgery needed by three critically ill patients. The Group has also supported fundraising efforts for the Port Maria Hospital Pediatric Ward. After losing its roof to Hurricane Sandy, RJRGLEANER was instrumental in raising funds to replace the roof and effecting other necessary hospital repairs and upgrading. In all, RJRGLEANER procured over $3million in support of the hospital. Without question, the RJRGLEANER Group has a heart and shows that heart through the caring works it performs as part of its corporate social responsibility.
