NAME OF FEATURE | THE GLEANER | SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2020 10 Albert Ferguson/Gleaner Writer W ITH THE rapid growth in tourism and the demand for a place to live com- fortably, work, and retire in peace, Trelawny has quickly become the place of choice. The demand for housing has increased tremen- dously to the point that housing developers are struggling to build fast enough to effectively satisfy the growing need of those seeking to work and live in the parish. In the last 15 years, the National Housing Trust, in responding to the need for housing, has developed several housing solutions across the parish, which have been quickly taken up by contributors of the trust. Among theprivatedeveloperswho have helped to develop the parish’s housing stock areGoreDevelopment, Zuccherina, Kencasa Construction and Kemtek Development & Construction Limited. Gore was responsible for the pro- vision of 828 solutions in the New Falmouth area, and all four phases of the Coral SpringVillage housing de- velopments, alongwith the Florence Hall Village and Oyster Bay Village. Zuccherina Developments Jamaica and Kencasa Construction and Project Management have in- vested in the development of a sprawling housing complex as well as a university town campus in the parish consisting of 1,385 housing solutions of varying types in the Holland Estate area. Kemtek Development and Construction, having satisfied their customers’ desires with their Stonebrook Vista and Stonebrook Estate developments, consisting of a combined total of 1,000housing solu- tions in theNewFalmouth area, have ventured into its StonebrookManor in the Florence Hall Community. Colin Gager, mayor of Falmouth, says the parish has benefited from a reasonable pace in the devel- opment of dream houses in and around the parish and that the National Housing Trust and private investors are already looking at ex- panding on existing developments as well to develop new areas to meet the ever-growing demand. “The housing stock in the parish is going well. All the developers have smiled on their way towards the bank because they have sold out all the houses they built. Even those built by the NHT, have all gone,” Gager said.
