NAME OF FEATURE | THE GLEANER | SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2020 12 TRELAWNY 250TH ANNIVERSARY Albert Ferguson/Gleaner Writer H AVING DOMINATED the world of track and field since the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing, China, legendary sprinter Usain Bolt, with his athletic talent, has placed the parish of Trelawny on the world stage unlike any other since the parish was established in 1770 and named after William Trelawny. Bolt, the eight-time Olympic gold medal winner and world record holder in the 100m and 200m, is a son of Trelawny. He was born in Sherwood Content, a rural commu- nity on the outskirts of the Georgian tourist resort town of Falmouth. He has won a total of 22medals. Among them are eight Olympic Gold med- als, 11 World Championships gold medals, two silver medals, and one USAIN BOLT
