Whitter Village 10 Years Later
NAME OF FEATURE | THE GLEANER | FRIDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2020 5 WHITTER VILLAGE 10TH ANNIVERSARY I T IS an honour for me as mayor of Montego Bay to congratulate the management and staff ofWhitter Village, Ironshore, on the state-of- the-art shopping centre celebrating its 10th anniversary. In 10 short years, Whitter Village has not only brought great shop- ping experiences to shoppers, but has assisted greatly in the expansion of commercial activities to the east of Montego Bay. Looking back, I believe the facil- ity’s opening 10 years ago was a stroke of genius from the owners, Angella Whitter and her late hus- band, Joe. Today, Whitter Village has become a landmark inMontego Bay and has firmly established itself as a one-stop venue for great shopping, dining, entertainment and other ac- tivities, to include foreign service support. Congratulations again to Joe and Angella for bringing this new concept of shopping and doing business to the people of not just Montego Bay, St James, but of neighbouring parishes as well. It is my firm belief that based on the achievements of Whitter Village in 10 years of operation, this shopping village will continue on its mission of becoming the largest retail shop- ping village in Jamaica, offering the best shopping mix on the eastern fringe of Montego Bay, and catering to both local consumers and the tourist market. Again, as mayor of the fastest-de- veloping city in the Caribbean, Montego Bay, I congratulateWhitter Village and wish for continued suc- cess, development and expansion for many years to come. LEEROYWILLIAMS Mayor of Montego Bay An established landmark in Montego Bay M Y HEARTIEST congratula- tions to theWhitter Village on its 10th anniversary! This special milestone is cause for cel- ebration. However, this occasion will allow the executive members to pause and reflect on 10 years of achievements and with a moment to look ahead. Whitter Village is one of the most elegant shopping complexes in St James. The shopping complex con- tinues to impact the lives of citizens in Ironshore, Rose Hall, and its en- virons. It also carries the hallmark of being conveniently accessible. Whitter Village is extremely fortu- nate to have been established in an age when many shopping facilities are rethinking their traditional mod- els and undergoing reform. After 10 years, this shopping complex has the precious opportunity to stand on the same starting line as any world-class shopping development. It is my firm belief that this vil- lage will continue to face the fu- ture with greater determination to serve because of the spirit and care which it demonstrates to customer service. As custos of St James, I must express gratitude to Mrs Angella Whitter, CEO of the Whitter Group, who owns Whitter Village. Mrs Angella Whitter has made her con- tributions over the years in opening this remarkable and rapid devel- opment along with Mr JoeWhitter, who predeceased her. Let me once again congratulate Whitter Village on their 10 years of service to the parish of St James. God bless you. BISHOP CONRAD H. PITKIN Custos Rotulorum for the Parish of St James A demonstrated commitment to customer service MESSAGES It is my firm belief that based on the achievements of Whitter Village in 10 years of operation, this shopping village will continue on its mission of becoming the largest retail shopping village in Jamaica, offering the best shopping mix on the eastern fringe of Montego Bay, and catering to both local consumers and the tourist market.
