Whitter Village 10 Years Later

NAME OF FEATURE | THE GLEANER | FRIDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2020 9 WHITTER VILLAGE 10TH ANNIVERSARY T HEMONTEGOBay Chamber of Commerce and Industry con- gratulates the Whitter Group of Companies and their flagship Whitter Village for celebrating 10 years. In this regard, it would be remiss of the chamber, as a body, not to sin- gle out the late land developer, vi- sionary and pioneer, JoeWhitter, as a solid citizen who made significant contributions to the development of western Jamaica, particularly in the Ironshore area in St James. The significant investments that he and his wife Angella Whitter made, particularly in Ironshore, are testament to their foresight and impeccable vision. The luxurious and multipurpose Whitter Village is one of those developments that have significantly transformed the entire Rose Hall area – giving the surrounding communities pride of place in the development of the wider St James. In addition to theWhitter Village, the chamber has also taken note of the significant property de- velopments by the group with the construction of the Golden Triangle in 1995, the establish- ment of the Ironshore Golf and Country Club, and the erection of the Whispers Apartment and other projects. It cannot be overstated that the Whitter Group of Companies has been very good for Jamaica’s de- velopment and has cemented their place as a great corporate entity and a major force in western Jamaica. TheWhitter Village, in celebrating 10 years since its opening, repre- sents the vision of theWhitters and is an iconic symbol that should be held up to investors both here and abroad. It has truly reshaped that entire section of St James as a major landmark development and as one of the most aesthetically appeal- ing shopping centres in the entire country. We wish the Whitter Group of Companies continued success. JANET SILVERA President Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry Whitter Group has cemented its place in western Jamaica MESSAGE
