Brown Morgan chaired health fair at Mandela Park. Patron Mayor Dr Patricia Brown-Burke. Sponsors included National Health Fund, Scotiabank, Heart Foundation of Jamaica (free ECGs and BP), Jamaica Cancer Society (NHF- sponsored Pap smears), Family Planning Unit (free HIV tests), Diabetic Association of Jamaica (free blood glucose checks), KSAC; highlighting care of chronic disease patients. • Greetings: from PAHO, Dean UWI Medical School, Scotiabank President, Church. Presentations: to retired GPs, including Dr Winsome Segre. Walkathon at Emancipation Park honoured doctors and patients. Patron, Custos of St Andrew, Mrs Donna Parchment-Brown. 2016: • Banquet honour ing distinguished colleagues at Terra Nova hotel launched ‘Adopt a Health Centre’ project, later instituted by the Ministry of Health andWellness. Funded upgrade of CBRJ disabilities clinic. • Devon House brunch: Family Doctors met Prof Roberts, immediate past president of WONCA, for lively discussions. Symposium at Terra Nova Hotel; Patrons Vice-Chancellor of the UWI Sir Hilary and Lady Beckles. • Keynote speaker Prof Roberts, physicians from Canada, USA, Dr Suzanne Minott-Arscot, Professor Peter Figueroa and Dr Tamu Davidson made symposium, ‘Family Doctors- Change Agents in the non- communicable chronic diseases’, outstanding. 2017: • Dr Aileen Standard Goldson chaired CCFP-J Triennial awards and conference ‘Ensuring Excellent Medical Care from the Womb to the Tomb’. • Keynote speaker Prof Allyn Walsh, past chair of the WONCA Working Committee on Education; President of the Canadian Association for Medical Education, called this “An ethical imperative”. • Doctors achieving 150 hours of CME/three years, awarded Member-CCFP certificates. 2018: • 7th Triennial Pan-Caribbean two-day conference at Knutsford Court hotel . ‘Family Doctors: Sustaining Lives, Enriching Families and Bui lding a Better Society’. Keynote speaker Prof Amanda Howe, president of WONCA, addressed “the role and impact of the Family Doctor Globally”. Speakers included Family Doctors Dr Tomlin Paul (Jamaica), Dr Hedwig (Bermuda and Cayman Islands), Dr Peter Adams (Barbados) , Dr Rohan Maharaj (Trinidad and Tobago), Dr Carnille Farquharson (The Bahamas), Professor Wendel Able. Caribbean perspectives! 2019: • ‘Family Doctors in Action for Older Adults; Ageing and Health Challenges’. • Salvation Army Francis Ham Residence, Moravian Church and Golden Age homes for older people benefited from luncheon, gifts, medications and requested items. • Workshop at Alhambra Inn hotel. Professor Eldemire- Shearer, professor of Public Health and Ageing, director of Mona Ageing and Wellness Centre, UWI, keynote speaker, presented ‘Geriatric Giants; Global Trends, Local applications’. Dermatologists, family doctors, dentists and veterinarians participated. 2020: • Chairperson, Dr Andrea Purai, hosted blended virtual conference, ‘Doctors on the Front line: Maintaining Wellness in COVID-19 Pandemic’. • Winston St Elmo Whyte, di s t ingui shed ac tuar y, presented ‘Key to Managing Financial Health and Debt Consolidation’. Drs Anthony Allen, Jacqueline Campbell, Pauline Williams Green highlighted the COVID pandemic. 2021: • A virtual webinar ‘Health and Wellness in 2021 and Beyond’. Prof Marvin Reid, Drs Sandra Jackson, Mark Hosang, Althea Aquart and Gillian Lowe spoke to COVID health issues. ‘Family Doctors in Action’ provided needed items for children’s homes.
