Andre’s Auto Centre On your 40 th Anniversary WITH THE COMPLIMENTS OF ANDRE’S AUTO 40TH ANNIVERSARY – something not done at the time as many persons were unfamiliar with those parts. The business continued to grow, and very soon his stock outgrew his kitchen and eventually over- took the entire property! And so in 1983, Andre’s Auto established its first branch office in Montego Bay. In 1984, the dealership began to expand its services from parts dis- tribution to include repairing and servicing vehicles, fleetmanagement and sales of used cars at a Kingston branch till eventually, he was able to set up two additional branches in Santa Cruz and May Pen. The dealer has also played an integral role in the development of the Jamaican auto industry. Andre, along with other pioneers in the auto industry, was among the founding members of the Motors Repairers’ Association of Jamaica (MRAJ). The goal of the MRAJ was to revolutionise the skills and practices of auto repairers island- wide, by setting high standards and establishing a code of ethics – making practices compatible with those in developed countries like the United States. They also in- troduced the Lifetime Warranty of K-Tools, a policy nowwidely used by auto repairers and manufacturers islandwide. Hylton also served on the Jamaican-German Automotive School’s (JAGAS) board and inspired many youths interested in the auto business. He is the charter president for Jamaica Classic Cars Club, which he said taught him a valuable les- son: “To preserve anything in life, one must develop a sense of care”. Andre’sAuto, through itsMD, estab- lished theGuiding Light Charity. This charity provides school fee assistance andmentorship to less fortunate stu- dents attending basic schools in the communities of Kencot, Lyndhurst Road andMaxfieldAvenue.This pro- ject is driven by the belief, ‘As you draw from life, youmust give back to life’. Hylton also serves on the Rotary Clubof Kingstonwhere he continues to serve Jamaica with Andre’s Auto always being his backbone. ANDRE’S AUTO NOW CELEBRATING 40 YEARS Forty years later, Andre’s Auto is seeking to relaunch and re-establish its business with a focus on improv- ing and providing quality services to its customers for less. Andre’s Auto services still include auto parts dis- tribution; servicing and repairing of vehicles; fleet management and used- car sales.
