NAME OF FEATURE | THE GLEANER | SUNDAY, MAY 11, 2025 15 MMS 35TH ANNIVERSARY FEATURE THE INSTITUTE for Workforce Education & Development (IWED) was established in 2005 to offer the finest in technical and vocational education and training to equip employees to function effectively and efficiently in the workplace. An Independent School registered with the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information, IWED is also registered with the Jamaica Tertiary Education Commission (JTEC) under the Higher Education Brokers and Providers Classification and holds University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) Stage 2 registration as a Higher Education Institution (2022-2026). IWED, a multifaceted institution with a variety of education and training programmes, continues to empower trainees and satisfy labour demands in several industries, with its tailored training courses; helping hundreds of trainees think creatively and unconventionally, while adopting new techniques and approaches to problem-solving to achieve career and organisational goals. The Institute is ideally located in Kingston, Mandeville, and Montego Bay. IWED has established a reputation for delivering quality training to government and private sector organizations and institutions gaining certification to succeed in the workplace by offering several short-term courses using experiential learning guided by qualified and dedicated instructors. The Institute also offers, free of charge, the 6th Form Pathway Programme sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth & Information.
