MMS 35TH ANNIVERSARY

NAME OF FEATURE | THE GLEANER | SUNDAY, MAY 11, 2025 23 MMS 35TH ANNIVERSARY FEATURE Message AS MANPOWER & Maintenance Services Limited (MMS) marks its 35th anniversary, we celebrate the indelible legacy of a woman whose vision and tenacity built one of Jamaica’s most respected business enterprises – M. Audrey Stewart-Hinchcliffe. In 1990, seeking opportunities upon returning home to Jamaica after decades abroad, Mrs StewartHinchcliffe turned to enterprise, using her decades of training and international experience in public health practice and policy to create a Jamaican business steeped in her belief in high standards, effective action, and people development. From that bold beginning, MMS has flourished into a multifaceted group employing over 2,500 Jamaicans and positively impacting thousands more. Its subsidiaries – Manpower Business Services, Institute of Workforce Education & Development (IWED), The Clean Store®, and MMS Sales Distribution – serve as pillars in workforce development, HR solutions, retail, and sanitation. Beyond the boardroom, Mrs Stewart-Hinchcliffe’s impact resonates deeply through her personal mentorship of budding leaders and the Manpower & Maintenance Services Foundation. From education to healthcare to sports, her philanthropic footprint uplifts countless lives. In 2004 she became twice-elected president of the Jamaica Employers’ Federation (JEF), the first woman to hold the post in this important national organisation’s then 46-year history, joining a distinguished list leading the work to improve productivity, harmony, and safety in their country’s workplaces. Now, “retired” she stands as a beacon and role model of what resilience, purpose, and service can achieve. MMS is more than a company – it is a benchmark of high standards and people development, led by a woman who put her dream into action. We salute you, Mrs StewartHinchcliffe, and congratulate MMS on 35 remarkable years.
