NAME OF FEATURE | THE GLEANER | TUESDAY, AUGUST 11, 2020 13 MEMBERS OF the Optimist Club of Kingston (OCK) were moved to give a standing ovation at the end of an address by Her Excellency, Mrs Janet OmoleeghoOlisa, high commissioner of the Republic of Nigeria to Jamaica. High Commissioner Olisa was the guest speaker at the Installation Ceremony of the OCK Board of Directors for the October 2019 to September 2020 Administrative Year. Likened to a ‘call to action’, the high commissioner charged the new board and members alike to con- tinue their unwavering commitment to youth. During her presentation, she cross-referenced her experiences growing up in Nigeria and her expe- riences in Jamaica since assuming duty on August 25, 2017. She impressed upon the audience the critical need to listen to the younger generation, who are relying on the adults to provide guidance in a rapidly changing world. She also underscored the principle of mutual respect, emphasising that this principle must be at the centre of all interaction. In closing, the high commissioner applauded the Optimist Club of Kingston on its dedication to the community and conveyed her best wishes for continued success.
