Far from fading, it thrives as a hybrid broadcaster, bridging tradition with technology, FM with digital, and local voices with global reach. December 6, 1964 at an RJR staff party to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of Jamaican broadcasting, Mr. Charles DaCosta, a Director of Radio Jamaica Limited, deputised for the Chairman and made a presentation to Miss Florence Richmond, who has worked in Jamaican radio for the whole 25 years. May 11, 1987 TOWARDS SMOOTHER TRAFFIC: ICWI and Radio Jamaica have teamed up with an enhancement of the Morning Traffic Report, designed to improve the listener interest and road user service of the highly popular traffic broadcast programme. A new formal involving the police, traffic wardens, listeners, pedestrians and motorists was started on May 1 and will now be incorporated into each morning’s broadcast. The Morning Traffic Report sponsored by ICWI has been a consistent leader in drive-time listenership.
