Staff Complement: Expanded to more than 115 staff members. 26. School of Continuing Education: Formerly Evening College, now offers multi-modal delivery of programmes. This unit of the institution saw a 35% increase in student enrolment in 2024. 26. Pre-College Programme: Introduced to help prospective students who are not fully qualified to matriculate to bachelor’s degree programmes. LEADERSHIP 27. Dr Simon Clarke: Pioneer principal who served from 1975 to 1985 and namesake of the Dr. Simon Clarke Multi-Purpose Hall. 28. Dr Cecile Walden: Served as principal from 1985 to 2008 and the Dr Cecile Walden Conference Room is named in her honour. 29. Dr Asburn Pinnock: Principal who served from 2009 to 2015. 30. Dr Lorna Gow-Morrison: Served as principal from 2015 to 2023. 31. Dr Ricardo Bennett: Current principal as of 2023. 32. Wesley Hewling: First chairman of Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College. 33. Barbara Smith: Second chairman of Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College. 34. Jeanne Robinson-Foster: Third chairman of Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College. 35. Norman Reid: Current chairman of Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College. 36. INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIONS 37. STEM Partnership with India: Initiated dialogue with the Indian High Commission to establish an international STEM partnership. 38. Faculty and Student Exchange: Plans to develop exchange programmes to facilitate cross-cultural learning experiences, in addition to the existing Spanish and French international immersion phenomenon that all Spanish & French student-teachers participate in. EMPOWERING MINDS, ENRICHING COMMUNITIES 39. Literature Symposium: Pioneered by the Language Arts Department, this is an initiative that supports teachers of Literature at the secondary level in honing their pedagogical craft. 40.
