SCHOLARSHIPS TO GO FEATURE | THE GLEANER | THURSDAY, MAY 15, 2025 2 FHC FOUNDATION FHC CREDIT Union, through the FHC Foundation, is proud to announce the opening of its annual scholarship application period this June. With a firm commitment to uplifting communities and transforming lives, the foundation will continue its legacy of support by awarding more than $3 million in scholarships and bursaries to Jamaican youth pursuing studies at the secondary and tertiary levels. Since 2012, FHC Credit Union has been dedicated to empowering the next generation through strategic investments in youth development. These include not only financial support, but mentorship and access to growth opportunities. The FHC Foundation’s scholarship initiative is part of this mission, aiming to reduce financial barriers and unlock the full potential of students who show academic promise and determination. “The goal of our scholarship programme is not just to fund education; it’s to ignite futures,” said Michelle Tracey, assistant general manager – marketing, communications & member experience. “Education is one of the most powerful tools we can offer our youth, and through the FHC Foundation, we are proud to continue making that investment.” Among the recipients of the 2024 scholarships are Shemore Howell and Lavana Shorter, who were awarded the prestigious FHC Sports Education Scholarship. Reflecting on the impact of the award, Shorter shared, “The FHC Sports Education Scholarship didn’t just lift the weight of tuition; it reignited a dream. It created space for healing, learning, and giving back.
