The Barita Foundation has been dedicated to pursuing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aligning efforts with Jamaica’s Vision 2030 since 2021. Through strategic partnerships and collaboration, the Foundation focuses on three key pillars: education & youth development, entrepreneurship, and health & well-being. Its commitment to integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives remains at the forefront of its mission. In 2024, the Foundation’s flagship scholarship programme attracted over 220 applications, ultimately selecting 57 deserving scholars who will receive scholarships and bursaries amounting to $9.5 million. These awards target various areas of study, including the Primary Exit Profile (PEP), CSEC/CAPE, and tertiary education, as well as early childhood education. With an investment of more than $20 million in scholarships and bursaries to date, the Foundation has positively impacted the lives of over 140 students. Beyond financial support, scholars also gain access to the Foundation’s diverse programmes and initiatives to foster growth and success. Two remarkable scholarship recipients exemplify the potential our education investment can unlock. Their stories reflect not only their dedication and hard work but also the transformative opportunities afforded by the Foundation.
