THE GLEANER’S SCHOLARSHIPS TO GO 2018 | TUESDAY, MAY 1, 2018

JAMAICA ENERGY PARTNERS AND WEST KINGSTON POWER PARTNERS

MY NAME is Cherries Wiles. I am a second-

year journalism major at the University of the

West Indies, and I am honoured to be a West

Kingston Power Partners tertiary scholarship

recipient.

The financial help that I received from the

organisation is the main reason I can pursue

my tertiary studies and eventually become a

university graduate.

The company is not only concerned that our

fees are paid, but as much as possible, they involve

us in various events and functions they host. This

exposure has been one of the high points of being

a WKPP tertiary scholarship recipient.

I am forever grateful to Jamaica Energy

Partners and West Kingston Power Partners for

providing such support for me, and others like

me, who had limited opportunities to pursue

tertiary education.

– Cherries Wiles,

2017 tertiary scholarship recipient

“F

OR UNTO whomsoever much is given,

of him shall be much required: and to

whom men have committed much, of

him they will ask the more.”

This Bible verse, taken from Luke chapter 12,

epitomises the relationship I have with West

Kingston Power Partners. Often, persons residing

in inner-city communities are ostracised, pushed

aside, and labelled as gangsters, disregarding all

of their potential achievements.

This can’t be said for the West Kingston

Power Partners. They are the water,

nutrients, and sunshine for me as a flower

growing in a hostile environment. WKPP has

helped me financially and has also acted as

good stewards, pushing me towards my goals

with a constant helping hand.

Thank you, West Kingston Power Partners,

for the support!

– Jahmoy St Jacques,

2017 tertiary scholarship recipient
