DUNNCOX SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility:

The award is available to Jamaican nationals who

have successfully completed the first year of the LL.B.

programme at the university and are not be more than 35

years of age on September 1.

Method of selection:

Short-listed candidates will be

interviewed by a panel comprising representatives from the

UWI Development and Endowment Fund and a

representative of the donor.

Criteria:

The award will be based on high academic

achievement (minimum GPA of 3.0) in the Level 1

university examinations with at least two A’s in Faculty of

Law courses; good character and leadership qualities,

volunteerism and social involvement of the applicant and

active participation in extracurricular activities.

Number of awards being offered:

One (biannually)

Amount to be awarded:

$125,000 per annum

Two years

FRANK L. MYERS SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility:

The award is available to Jamaican nationals who are

enrolled in the Faculty of Law; students who have successfully

completed Level 1 of the LL.B programme and will be no more

than 25 years of age on September 1 of the year of award.

Method of selection:

Applicants shall be short-listed and

interviewed by a panel comprising Myers, Fletcher &

Gordon representatives and UWI personnel.

Criteria:

The award will be based on academic performance

based on the results of Level 1 of your University

examinations (should have attained at least a Grade ‘A’ in

two (2) law subjects in UWI first year exams), excellent

leadership and character traits.

One

Amount to be awarded:

$200,000 per annum

TASTEE LIMITED SCHOLARSHIP FOR LAW

Course of study:

Eligibility:

The award is available to second-year Jamaican

nationals entering the LLB programme. The award will be

based on academic performance based on the results of the

Year I university examinations (at least a GPA of 3.5);

verifiable financial need; active participation in co-

curricular activities; demonstrated leadership qualities,

volunteerism and social involvement.

Condition:

The recipient must continue to meet all the

established criteria to qualify for the award in the second

year of tenure; participation in an internship programme at

Tastee Ltd; participation in facility tours, meetings and other

forms of engagement with Tastee Ltd. Please note: Forfeiture

of any of the terms and conditions will require full

repayment of the scholarship fund remitted on the

recipient’s behalf.

Available to Jamaican nationals who have

successfully completed all Level I courses, leading to the

bachelor’s degree with a major in library and information

studies. The award will be based primarily on academic

performance; verifiable financial need; an indication of

commitment to profession by being a member of the Jamaica

Library Association, among other things.

Method of selection:

Applicants shall be short-listed and

interviewed by a panel comprising donor representatives and

UWI personnel.

Condition:

Successful candidates will be required, upon

graduation, to become an active member of the Jamaica

Library Association by volunteering to serve one of its

working parties for at least a year.
