ITH EDUCATION as its primary

strategic focus, the NCB

Foundation paves the financial

path for students to pursue tertiary

education, and also assists thousands of

primary- and high-school students with

academic expenses through its annual

flagship Scholarship and Grants Programme.

The programme, now in its 10th year,

targets Jamaican students pursuing studies

locally, from ages six to 30 years. Some $40

million will be used to finance students in

both traditional and non-traditional fields of

study. To date, the foundation has

contributed more than $305 million to more

than 3,500 students.

Under the programme, applicants can be

awarded scholarships of up to $500,000

annually for the duration of their

undergraduate studies on the basis of high

academic performance, financial need,

community involvement, and strong

leadership abilities. Students from the

primary to the undergraduate level can also

access special grants up to $100,000.

Beneficiaries over the years have

contributed tremendously to the

advancement of our country and are quite

grateful for this opportunity.

“NCB has enabled me to ‘put my best life’

forward through the awesome opportunity of

being an NCB Scholar! I am now empowered

to contribute positively to my country

through the communities I serve as a dental-

care professional. I am truly honoured and

grateful to have my name attached to such a

noble organisation as they continue to

transform lives through education,” said

Trevell Duncan, the 2011 scholar.

Staecha Goulbourne, 2013 parish

champion, reinforced that “the NCB

Foundation was my lighthouse during the

time when I had to withstand the turbulent

sea of life.

“I am extremely grateful for the invaluable

contribution the foundation has made and

for being trusting enough to invest in my

tertiary education. I have been empowered,

strengthened and shaped into the confident

woman I am today.”

The application period for 2017-18

academic year will close on June 2.

Applications must be submitted online at
