JAMAICA GOVERNMENT EXHIBITION SCHOLARSHIP

Course of study:

Degree

Eligibility:

The award is open to Jamaican Nationals who are

enetering Level (I) or Level (II) of an undergraduate degree

programme (not full fee paying) in any Faculty of the

University of the West Indies, Mona Campus and not older

than 25 years of age at the start of the academic year for

which they are applying.

Fifteen per annum

Tuition & contribution towards book grant

Regular duration of specified programme

Criteria:

Students are required to have high academic

performance in at least three subjects at CAPE Units I and II

and either Communication or Caribbean Studies OR have

attained at least a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.30 at

Level I of the UWI examinations; have verifiable financial

need; be involved in co-curricular and/or community service

activities and possess strong leadership qualities.

Method of Selection: Shortlisted candidates will be

interviewed by a panel comprising personnel from the

Ministry of Education, Principals’ Association and the

University of the West Indies.

Condition:

Graduates will be required to serve in Jamaica for

a minimum period of two years immediately after graduation.

The bonding period will be determined by the Ministry of

Finance and subject to the amount of money expended.
