St Andrew High School for Girls 100th Anniversary

SAHS CELEBRATES HOCKEY HERITAGE WITH ‘LEGACY HOCKEY MATCH.’ St. Andrew, Jamaica – St. Andrew High School for Girls (SAHS) will as part of its Centenary Celebrations host on Tuesday April 14th, a special ‘Legacy Hockey Match’ bringing together generations of players in a celebration of the school’s rich hockey tradition. The intergenerational encounter will see veteran hockey players take on the school’s current hockey team in what promises to be a spirited and memorable event. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m., with pre‑game formalities commencing at 2:45 p.m., including a prayer and welcome. The afternoon’s proceedings will be guided by distinguished old girl and master of ceremonies, Elaine Wint, who will serve as announcer for the event. Ahead of the opening whistle, special recognition will be given to members of the 1964 championship team in attendance. The occasion will also mark a milestone for the St. Andrew Hockey Club, as congratulations are extended on the celebration of its 85th anniversary. The match, expected to last approximately one hour, will feature notable players Dr. Simone French and Dr. Gail Kerr on the veterans’ team, which will be captained by Dr. Michelle Holt. At half‑time, entertainment will be provided by the cheerleaders of ‘Darling House’ and ‘Cavell House,’ adding colour and excitement to the afternoon’s programme. At 4:00 p.m., following the conclusion of play, presentations will be made to the Most Valuable Players of each team as well as the longest‑serving member of the St. Andrew Hockey Club (an old girl).
