May Pen Update
All the business places in May Pen are closed with the exception of hardware stores and just a few wholesales, as persons are still in the preparation process for the storm.
The weather is overcast but no rainfall or wind. There is still just a calm with persons waiting for the hurricane to hit or to see some effects of the inclement weather.
Gas stations are doing alot of business as people are purchasing gas in preparation for what might happen after the hurricane. Lieba Esso Tiger Mart is packed with motorists trying to get gasolene.
At Stewart Hardware, operations manager Winston Jackson said they had to restock the store ahead of Gustav, as persons are still buying small items like tarpaulin, flashlights, batteries, emergency light and kerosene oil. In fact kerosene oil ran out and they had to get some more as well as standby generators. They have also stocked up on zinc and lumber in anticipation of any damage that might occur after the hurricane.
