FIVE JAMAICAN students: Rushawn Marshall, Clenmar Rowe, Tashae Thompson, David Scott and Kemmisha Skinner, recipients of full scholarships to study at Hohai University in China, were eagerly welcomed at the airport by employees of China Harbour Engineering Company's (CHEC) Beijing office.
After a 14-hour flight, Rowe recalls the "superstar" treatment they received upon arrival in China. Our young scholars were treated to Chinese dinner courtesy of CHEC's Beijing-based headquarters. However, as Rowe recalls, "The waitress came in with some mouth-watering food, but something was missing... It was not until Tashae gathered up the courage to ask where the forks were. All we had in front of us to eat were two slender sticks. I'll leave the idea of how the rest of that night turned out to your imagination."
