WHEN PATRICK Brown* received nine grade ones and one grade two in his Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate exams recently, there was no huge fanfare. He was not the only student in his violence-prone community to have achieved outstanding results. These students are quietly celebrated by their parents and tutors at Grace and Staff Community Development Foundation because anything elaborate could result in them being targeted by criminals in their community, simply for succeeding in their studies.
