The Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA) is the sole and exclusive owner of Trade Marks Jamaica Blue Mountain® Coffee; Jamaica High Mountain Supreme® Coffee and Jamaica Blue®. These marks are registered in Jamaica and 58 other countries of the World. The Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA) is a statutory body that was established by the Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority Act, 2017 section 3 (An Act of the Jamaican Parliament). It is an amalgamation of the Coffee and Cocoa Industry Boards as well as the Coconut Regulatory Functions and aspects of the Export Division under the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. JACRA was created to regulate Coffee, Cocoa, Coconut, Pimento, Ginger, Nutmeg and Turmeric. The Act mandates that persons who are desirous of importing, exporting, manufacturing, trading, using the words or symbols of the trademarks or any of these commodities must get a License from JACRA. Failure to do this may result in fines as dictated under the legislation (Sections 14-16).
