These celebrations highlighted the agency’s ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery, improve efficiency, and uphold the highest standards in Customs operations. Staff members across various departments participated in training sessions, workshops, and appreciation events aimed at fostering a culture of continuous improvement and customer-centric service. From interactive discussions on best practices to moments of recognition for outstanding employees, ‘Quality Week’ and ‘Customer Service Week’ served as a reminder that excellence is at the heart of Jamaica Customs. The celebrations also reinforced the agency’s mission to not only facilitate trade and border security but to ensure that every interaction — whether with businesses, travellers, or stakeholders – reflects professionalism, efficiency, and a commitment to national development. In a powerful demonstration of collaboration for environmental protection, Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA), the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), and the Sandals Foundation joined forces in 2024 to intercept illegal fishing activities in the Boscobel Marine Sanctuary. This joint operation underscored the agencies’ commitment to safeguarding Jamaica’s marine ecosystems, preserving biodiversity, and ensuring that protected areas remain untouched by unlawful exploitation. By working together, the partners reinforced the importance of enforcing environmental regulations while promoting sustainable fishing practices. The operation served as a strong message against illegal activities that threaten Jamaica’s natural resources. With Jamaica Customs’vigilance in border protection, the JCF’s enforcement capabilities, and the Sandals Foundation’s commitment to conservation, the initiative showcased the power of public-private partnerships in protecting the country’s marine heritage. This effort not only helped to deter future illegal fishing but also highlighted the crucial role of community engagement and environmental stewardship in securing Jamaica’s natural wealth for generations to come.
