NAME OF FEATURE | THE GLEANER | SUNDAY, JUNE 9, 2024 44 ONE OF the events on the Jamaica Teachers’ Association’s (JTA) calendar crosses or connects health and sports while honouring an educator and former member. It is the Vilma Lawes Munroe 5K Walk/Run honouring the former JTA Regional Manager for the Northeast Region. Proceeds from the meet go toward the JTA’s Critical Care fund. The event is seen as important reminder and opportunity for teachers to engage in physical activities for the benefit of their health. The event is the brainchild of former President Howard Isaacs.
