Scholarships To Go 2019

16 THE GLEANER | TUESDAY, APRIL 30, 2019 M Y NAME is Dolieth Chambers, a third- year student of The University of theWest Indies, and a beneficiary of the Jamaica Energy Partners (JEP) scholarship. What seemed like a dream just three years ago has been progressing towards fruition through the backing and support of JEP’s investment in youth educa- tion. The financial burden my family and I expected to stress us for years to come, a burden that lasts long after schooling is finished, has been significantly lessened thanks to JEP’s commitment to those who are steadfast to their academic dreams. This is a testament to the idea that hard work reaps reward. After being denied several other scholarships and having no alternative aid, the possibility of tertiary education felt out of reach, but with the oppor- tunity JEP has afforded tome, I am currently one year away from graduating and earning a software engineering de- gree. For this, I am apprecia- tive beyond words. – Dolieth Chambers, 2017 JEP scholarship recipient Dolieth Chambers, 2017 JEP scholarship recipient . Dolieth Chambers progressing with the support of JEP I REMEMBER being informed that I was granted a Jamaica Energy Partners (JEP) Scholarship in 2017 and the great feeling of gratitude that came after- wards. That feeling has not left me for a second. The truth is, university can be quite challenging at times, but when a company decides to invest in your education by providing financial relief, it allows you to be more focused on your aca- demic goals rather than being constantly worrying about funding. Throughout my semesters at The University of the West Indies, Mona, knowing that JEP saw something in me worth investing in has offered motivation to continue doing well and has provided affirmation that my goals are more than attainable. This motivation has pushed me to maintain a high academic standard, which has en- abled me to study at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden for this current semester. Thank you, JEP! – Christopher Allen, 2017 JEP scholarship recipient Christopher Allen (left), 2017 Jamaica Energy Partners scholarship recipient collecting his award from Wayne McKenzie, CEO of Jamaica Energy Partners/West Kingston Power Partners.
