Are you still without water or light or both?
The Gleaner, Power 106FM and www.go-jamaica.com would like to assist the utility companies of Jamaica to help the public.
Can you leave a comment if your community is without light or water or blocked off as a result of land slippage? You do not need to leave your name. We just need the name of the community, or a street address and the parish…
Let us all work together to get these issues resolved.

The area of Cashew Ridge, Jacks Hill Road, Jacks Hill is still without light and water since Tropical Storm Gustav. Hoping to have these services restored before the other hurricanes make entry. They were massive land slippage, the road was partially cleared to a single lane. More needs to be done. Thanks.

Bellevue District, Rio Grande PA, Portland and All of the surroundings in the Rio Grande valley area don’t have power as yet, do you have any idea when JPS will start working in this area? byron.somers@century21.com
Oh the Alligator Church Bridge (surrounding Dist. Bellevue, Mill Banks, Ginger House, and Kent) in the Rio Grande Valley Portland don’t need to be repaired it need to be replace. If people keep driving on that bridge daily it’s just a matter of time something divasting gonna happen. Why wait for death toll or cut offs before fit the problem. I hope this message reach somewhere and i will be more than happy to help in any ways. I can be at this email address:byron.somers@century21.com

The situation in the Kintyre community (St Andrew) is a disgrace to Jamaica! The Hope River bridge which allows the only car access to this entire community is destroyed after EVERY tropical storm or hurricane, and all the residents are stranded in their homes for weeks afterwards. Light and water are of course also not restored until the bridge is fixed. This year we had no water for weeks before Gustav as well. Something must urgently be done to avoid this from happening again!

Question? Are there real efforts on the part of the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPSCO) and the National Water Commission (NWC) to restore both electricity and water to these streets and communities, after respective individuals post their needs?Or,are such communities posting the lack and need for such services in vain and futility? Are there actual solutions and positive results to such postings?Hopefully, the answers to the above questions are in the affirmative.
