WNING AN auto parts
store has been a dream come
true for Sean Farquharson,
whose business started in his
Mitsubishi motor car five years ago
and is now outgrowing the 20-foot
container where it is being housed.
Farquharson had worked for
more than 20 years as a sales
representative at a car dealership in
Kingston, but when that business
was divested in 2010, he decided
that it was time to branch out on
his own and start Your Price Auto.
“I started out of my car by just
driving and delivering to my
customers who called me on the
phone,” said Farquharson.
But as his clientele grew,
Farquharson had to find a larger
space for his business. He found that
he also needed to register his
company in order to attract and
keep clients. Upon going into the
Small Business Association of
Jamaica to seek information about
how to go forward, he was told
about the possibilities of renting one
of its containers on Trafalgar Road,
which he did.
Initially, Farquharson was
selling only Mitsubishi parts and
accessories, but his range of stock
changed gradually to meet
customer demand. Some of his
friends, who he had worked with
