THE UNIVERSITY COUNCIL OF JAMAICA FEATURE | MONDAY, MARCH 5, 2018

MESSAGES

H

ONOURABLE FOUNDING members of the

University Council of Jamaica (UCJ),

leadership and staff, on behalf of the

INQAAHE Board of Directors, I am honoured to

extend our heartfelt congratulations to the

University Council of Jamaica on the

occasion of the 13th Annual Quality

Assurance in Higher Education

Week, to be held from March 5-9,

under the theme, ‘Enhancing and

Sustaining Quality in Institutions’.

One of the key objectives for the

QA Week is to assist the tertiary

education system in Jamaica in the

development of its institutions by

providing training and professional advice

on quality assurance matters. It is commendable

to see the enhancement role of the UCJ within

the frames of quality assurance in Jamaica.

Indeed, the role of UCJ in the establishment and

operationalisation of a robust QA system in

Jamaica is paramount and cannot be

overemphasised. By providing quality assurance

guidance and services to tertiary education and

its stakeholders, as well as establishing a robust

platform for the enhancement of tertiary

education provisions, UCJ continuously raises

the standards of excellence while serving

as a role model for developing and

newly emerging systems.

The role of UCJ in the

operations of INQAAHE is also

commendable. Being one of

the most active and honoured

members, your continuous

contribution to the INQAAHE

activities is tangible and can

never be overestimated.

As president of INQAAHE, I take this

opportunity to extend my highest

commendations for the admirable job done

by the UCJ to enhance and sustain a quality

culture in the Jamaican tertiary education
