Ms. Althea Hall, former Superintendent, Roads and Works, at the St. Ann Municipal Corporation, was
summoned by the Contractor General on October 16, 2015, pursuant to the powers which are bestowed
under Section 18 of the Contractor General Act:
“CHAIRMAN:
You are not aware of any circumstances under which
contractors are grouped and a cheque is then made
payable to an individual for or on behalf of other
contractors?
A:
No.
CHAIRMAN:
You have never heard of that before?
A:
What, group payments?
CHAIRMAN:
Yes, ma'am
.
A:
No, sir.
CHAIRMAN:
You have never heard of the fact that because they
don't want pile up at Parish Council Office, they ask
one person to collect the cheque in their name and the
money is then carried back to the Constituency office?
A:
I am not aware of that.
CHAIRMAN:
You would agree with me in terms of the Christmas
work that is done, bushing and drain cleaning is a lot
of people work?
A:
I am aware.
