I recall that a gentleman from the NWA, I think a Mr.
Lawrence, facilitated the signing of the contract. The
contract was signed at the MP's Office. The MP I am
referring to is Miss Lisa Hanna. I cannot recall if it was
Miss Smith who printed the contract document…
I went to St. Ann Parish Council to pick up the cheque. I
don't know if the money was transferred to the Parish
Council for payment, but I was told that the contract was
from the NWA and I collected the cheque from the St.
Ann Parish Council. I collected a cheque for $500,000.00
.
Miss Smith called me by telephone to tell me that the
cheque was ready and I should collect the cheque from
the St. Ann Parish Council. In collecting the cheque I
joined the long line at the Parish Council and collected
the cheque. It was at this time that I realized that
the cheque was for $500,000.00.
I took the cheque to
the Scotia Bank in St. Ann's Bay and cashed it and then I
took the money to the Constituency Office and gave it to
the lady who works at the Constituency Office. Miss
Andrea Smith is the name of the lady who I gave the
money to at the Constituency Office.
The amount of money I received for myself from this
cheque was $40,000.00. I asked Miss Smith why I was
sent to collect a cheque for so much money and I was told
by her that this was in order to minimize the number of
persons going to the Parish Council to collect cheques,
